SDCC 2017: Matthew Vaughn may indeed be looking at directing Man of Steel sequel

July 21st, 2017 by Marc Comments

While we have heard before that X-Men: First Class and Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn might have interest in a Man of Steel sequel, there’s been very little in the line of confirmation. Until now.

At SDCC earlier today, Vaughn’s film-making partner (and Mrs Jonathan Ross) Jone Goldman may have let the cat out of the bag… or at least its whiskers.

While DC/Warners are expected to make a big announcement or two this weekend at SDCC, Man of Steel 2 wasn’t really on the radar with everyone talking about The Batman, Gotham City Sirens, Batgirl and Nightwing, however, Goldman may have just changed all that.

Screenrant asked Goldman if she was set to work with Vaughn again anytime soon, maybe with a Superman movie, and she replied: “I know Matthew’s a big Superman fan. Would I like to… I don’t know. I mean I’m not sure. I think Matthew’s looking at it from a directing point of view. I have no idea what’s happening there.”

Woah, wait… he IS considering/considered as a director? This is awesome news! But is there anything moving ahead yet?

“I’m not sure,” says Goldman, “There might already be a script for it. I think so… I’m not certain actually but it’s complicated with a character with that kind of history. Obviously X-Men have an equally complicated [history]… but Superman feels a lot more recent. He’s been brought to life in a new iteration – he means a lot to a lot of people and maybe there are other people with more a connection with Superman… but who knows.”

This is massive! A potential director and script in place for Man of Steel 2?! Colour us extremely excited and expecting maybe more at the DC Panel on Saturday!

You’ll find us pacing the floor until then.
