One thing that never amazes us – even at this stage – is just how observant fans, especially Star Wars fans, are.
When the trailer for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi landed last week at Star Wars Celebration (here) most of us were just trying to gleam whatever info we could from the scenes, the vehicles, the characters and the locations, however, many other fans were looking somewhere else entirely.
At Kylo Ren’s face.
And look, he’s a handsome man, so that’s understandable… however it was something else they were looking at: his scar.
Remember at the end of The Force Awakens when Ren goes head-to-head with Rey in a lightsaber duel and Rey seemingly channels the Force an beat Kylo to a standstill, slashing his face in the process?
Well in the trailer for The Last Jedi it’s clear that the scar is further to the left than it was when Rey opened his face.
Is this a mistake? Well, no.
Director of The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson, has taken to twitter to say that he knows the scar is moved… and it was his choice: “It was my decision to slightly adjust it, and that was my justification. It honestly looked goofy running straight up the bridge of his nose.”
Well, that was simple. Although we know this is going to bug the heck out of a lot of people now given that it screws with continuity within the movies.
Heck, it bothers us. A little.
But we’ve made our peace with it. Have you? Let us know…
