There’s no denying that, despite the worst final season in history – well, except for maybe Dexter – Game of Thrones still sits in our favourite TV shows in recent years.
And this is in no small part due to Peter Dinklage’s amazing portrayal of Tyrion Lannister who is one of the best characters to ever appear in a TV show – actually, in any medium. So, due to this, we have a keen interest in what Dinklage is doing next… and he’s not disappointed with this one.
The star is set to play The Toxic Avengers in Legendary’s long-gestating planned reboot of the classic 80’s Troma franchise about a janitor called Melvin who is pushed into a vat of toxic waste, only to be reborn as a horribly disfigured monster/man who has the heart of a hero and become The Toxic Avenger.
The originals were, of course, meant to be sent-ups of al the superhero tropes and perhaps now is the perfect time to bring such a character back to the screen… and who better to play him than Dinklage?
The move will be written and directed by I don’t Feel At Home In This World Anymore’s Macon Blair.
Let’s not forget that the original Toxic Avenger sound himself in movies, musicals, comics and a cartoon show, so if this is a hit, there’s a potentially lucrative franchise just waiting to be reborn.
Are you excited? Honestly, the Toxic Avenger missed me first time around, but with Dinklage involved in a reboot, it has my attention.
