Solo: A Star Wars Story gets official synopsis: hints at iconic first meetings

January 16th, 2018 by Marc Comments

Well, we’re only a few short months out from yet another Star Wars movie with Solo: A Star Wars Story, and while we’re waiting anxiously for a trailer, we have at least got… a synopsis.

Yes, the official Star Wars site listed the movie’s synopsis and it pieces together some of what we had guessed already about the movie.

First, here’s the synopsis:

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

Solo: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on May 25th, 2018 and stars Alden Ehrenreich (Hail Caesar!) as Han Solo, Donald Glover (Atlanta) as Lando Calrissian, Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Woody Harrelson (True Detective), Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag), Thandie Newton (Westworld), and Paul Bettany (The Avengers). The film is directed by Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind), with a script by Lawrence Kasdan (The Empire Strikes Back) and his son Jon Kasdan (The First Time).

Solo: A Star Wars Story releases in US theaters on May 25, 2018.

Next, here’s what we learn: the movie will chronicle Han’s meeting for the first time of Chewie AND Lando, so it’s likely going to be full of iconic  moments… but we’re also hoping that it reflects the stories we’ve had teased for how Han met Chewie and how he and Lando became friends and bet for one of Han’s favourite possessions.

Are you excited for Solo? We want to hear your thoughts…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
