Just as we are all gathering ourselves up from the whole Spider-man in the MCU ordeal, it looks like there’s possibly another possible dip in this rollercoaster yet.
While there’s constantly reports that the deal may be back on and that Sony and Marvel/Disney are still thrashing it out, now a new report is that they aren’t.
Because they may not need to.
A new tweet (below) from Lords of The Long Box had this to say: No update on The Sony deal, its at a stalemate. Disney is in no hurry to make a deal now that they know Apple, Amazon and maybe Netflix is interested in buying Sony Pictures for the streaming content. Disney can get Spider-man back for free so why pay?
Em, what?
So, basically, the terms of Sony’s Spider-man deal/ownership is that should anyone buy Sony Pictures, then Spider-man and all related characters automatically – you guessed it – revert back to Marvel/Disney.
Therefore, if this is true – and I’d say it’s a longshot but there could be something to it for sure, remember how long the MArvel getting the X-Men rumours went back before it finally happened? – then all the overlords are Disney need to do is sit back, relax and wait for Spidery’s, em, homecoming.
So, don’t hold your breath, but this is certainly worth watching because if there’s anything beyond fans’ wish fulfilment to this then it may move fast.
Another day, another dip in the rollercoater. Hold on tight and let me know your thoughts.
