It seems like the Spider-man we will be getting in Sony’s as yet untitled animated Spider-Man film will actually be Miles Morales, the mixed race Spider-Man who was first introduced by Brian Bendis in the Ultimate Marvel Universe and who recently joined the Marvel Universe proper.
The half African-American, half Latino replacement for Peter Parker from Brooklyn proved so popular he was added to the Ultimate Spider-man cartoon that aired on the Disney channel.
Rumours persist that he will now star in his own animated project and there are currently two working titles for the Spider-Man film. The titles being: Miles Morales: The Ultimate Spider-Man and The Ultimate Spider-Man: Miles Morales (we see what they did there).
We must stress, this is just a rumour at this point but it would be great to see Miles take centre stage in his own feature. The film is expected to be released on December 21, 2018 and the LEGO movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will produce the film.
