“Spider-man standalone movie could feature other MCU characters,” says Kevin Feige

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige has confirmed that Marvel Studios characters will appear in Sony’s next Spider-Man movie.

“He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth,” Feige told EW (via Squareeyed).

Sony Pictures is rebooting the character in an untitled Spider-Man film with Tom Holland as Peter Parker, set for release July 7, 2017. Spidey will also appear in Captain America: Civil War, due to be released on April 29 (May 6 for US audiences).

It’s extremely exciting news for fans because it means Spidey’s new storyline will be interlocked with Iron Man, Cap, Black Widow, The Hulk etc..

Feige isn’t at liberty to divulge on the specific characters but this is a huge boost for the reboot and will hopefully go a long way in extinguishing the feelings of disappointment left by The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

When Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live a few months back, the former pointed out that they would both be returning to Atlanta in the near future, which is where Spider-Man is set to film, setting off a frenzy of theories linking those two Avengers with an appearance in Spidey’s solo outing.

Who do you want to see in the Spider-Man reboot?

Speaking of the Avengers and Civil War, check out the new featurette from Marvel focusing on the ladies in the team:
