Marvel really has been busy today. With long discussions about Doctor Strange and Black Panther, one might think that Marvel would rest on their laurels… but those men would be wrong.
Not content with discussing two massive movies, Marvel also released information about Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy.
When discussing the upcoming Spider-Man reboot, Kevin Feige stated that it is, “It’s the soap opera in high school, and those supporting characters, that are interesting… Just as we hadn’t seen a heist movie in a long time, or a shrinking movie in a long time, we haven’t seen a John Hughes movie in a long time. Not that we can make a John Hughes movie – only John Hughes could – but we’re inspired by him, and merging that with the superhero genre in a way we haven’t done before excites us”.
Oh my God, it is incredible to hear that the Spider-Man franchise actually has… a direction that it is going in. These words fill me with endless confidence in the project. The concept of placing Spider-Man in a John Hughes-esque movie sounds like it would work exceptionally well!
As for Guardians, there wasn’t a large amount of information given. However, director James Gunn took to twitter to confirm that the title for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is… wait for it… Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Can we all just take a moment, and admit that this is a great title. Nothing else was given about the film, but nothing else needs to be said. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is being made.
