We now have names to go with all the faces (and back of hooded heads) we saw in The Force Awakens trailer…

EW has revealed, through some very cool retro-styled collectors cards given to them by Lucasfilm head Kathleen Kennedy and director JJ Abrams, the names of the characters that everyone is talking about.

The cards (below) resemble the originals that went with the OT movies and the retro feel is great.

The cards are very much based on the trailer as they don’t feature any of the characters NOT seen – Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson or Max von Sydow (although we don’t know who is under the cape, even if we have a character name).

We now know that John Boyega is called Finn, Daisy Ridley is called Rey (although we do think her surname could be important – cough Solo perhaps cough), and Oscar Isaac is Poe Dameron and mr Shadow in the forest is called Kylo Ren.

Oh, and the droid is BB-8.

“I’m only sorry we couldn’t give everyone a stick of gum,” Abrams told the magazine…

He also said that the numbering of the cards is important. Any ideas? Any way, here’s the list… let’s hope there will be a full set to collect this time next year…

• #11 — BB-8 on the move

• #53 — Poe Dameron in his X-Wing

• #67 — Kylo Ren ignites his Lightsaber

• #74 — Rey on her Speeder

• #76 — Finn on the run

• #81 — Stormtroopers prepare for battle

• #88 — X-Wings in formation

• #96 — The Millennium Falcon

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
