Stallone: “Creed is the last time you’ll see Rocky Balboa…”

While we loved Creed, we felt that Sylvester Stallone’s performance was probably one of the strongest elements of it.

A layered performance of hope and sorrow, it was laced with a strength and vulnerability that really got us. It was a Rocky we had never seen before and, it seems, one we’ll never see again.

Stallone has said that Creed was Rocky’s final appearance: “I really have mixed feelings about this, seriously… I feel like Rocky, at the end of this movie on the steps, with the help of a young man, and he looks out and says, ‘From here, you can see your whole life’ — it sort of summarizes the whole thing. I don’t know how much further you can push Rocky.”

We think this is a fair summary of Creed’s finale and, while we’d love to see him become a Mickey-like mentor over the next few movies, we agree with him.

Mind you, Stallone said he was done after Rocky V and again after Rocky Balboa, but we think this time the champ is well and truly down.

We’ll miss you, Rocky, there’s been a lot of good times.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
