Some new and exciting Ghostbusters: Afterlife news for tonight, guys.
While we seem confident that, despite the old stars suiting up (here), the new Ghostbusters is a passing of the torch affair, we’re excited to meet the new generation of the team and it seems we may have confirmation of another new addition suiting up in the movie.
Carrie Coon, who plays mum Callie to Finn Wolfhard and Mckenna Grace’s Trevor and Phoebe, seems to hint that she is joining the team in a new interview.
“Yeah, that was certainly one of the things I was afraid of when I first was approached about it [being a ‘mum’ character],” Coon says.
“I think of Dee Wallace in ET who is a wonderful actress who then sort of became – well, she actually went on, had a really interesting life, but, you know, she became sort of the franchise mom. And I thought about that, but Jason is smarter than that. Jason is the next generation, and he wrote a lot of fun for all of us, and it was one of the reasons I said yes to it.
“You know, she actually has a personality, a sense of humor and she does get in on the action, and that was really fun for me! I mean, I’m a Ghostbuster basically, which is insane! I grew up with that movie!”
We can’t wait to meet the new cast in the continuation of the classic 1980s movies, and having it continue on the story of the family of one of the most beloved characters is a wonderful touch and we can’t help but noticing she said: “I’m a Ghostbuster basically, which is insane!”
It must feel insanely exciting to be able to say that and we can’t wait to join the ride with Coon and the others.
Anyway, let me know if you’re excited for a new team of Ghostbusters in all the usual ways guys. I’ll be pacing the floor waiting for March while you do.
