Tune in live Thursday from 9pm est

Stephen Merchant has joined the Wolverine 3 cast. No, really.

Here’s some casting news we really weren’t expecting, as Stephen Merchant signs up as part of the new Wolverine cast.

We kind of really hope he’ll be replacing Hugh Jackman in the role.

Following the announcement earlier in the week that Richard E Grant would play the film’s “mad scientist,” Deadline have broken the news of Merchant’s arrival.

Though there isn’t any news at the moment about who he may play – we keep getting casting news but no actual character names – it’s certainly seems like an unusual choice for director James Mangold.

Merchant joins the cast for the third – and what Jackman says will be his final – Wolverine flick, which also stars Boyd Holbrook as the main villain and Patrick Stewart returning once more to play Professor Charles Xavier.

Wolverine 3 is currently scheduled for release on 2nd March 2017.

Cheers to Squareeyed for the scoop

Hidden deep in the woods, past the abandoned insane asylum and long-forgotten summer camp, off the old dirt road, across the creaky timber bridge, lies a log cabin. Under the full moon some have said they've heard blood-curdling howls from deep in the basement, though none have been brave enough to explore further... If they had, the shocking reveal would be that the screams come from old horror VHS tapes, accompanied by the maniacal laugh of Phil Robinson, brought on by comics and wrestling promos. The self-confessed "horror guy", he has also been known to talk about Spider-Man and heavy metal at great, unnecessary lengths. Yes, he knows he needs a haircut.
