Could the Suicide Squad movie be going down the route taken by timeless Batman graphic novel The Killing Joke and giving us the ‘true’ origins of the Joker?

Remember, the same origins lent a lot to Joker’s birth in the 1989 Batman movie but was also heavily changed for that version.

Well, the latest set pics from the movie – this time leaked by crew members including Ingrid Kleinig, who is Margot Robbie’s stunt double – who quickly deleted them but then – hey, it’s the internet – they were screen-grabbed and re-posted on Instagram. And yes, we have copies of them below.

The images show ACE Chemicals which comic fans – including myself – should be freaking out over because this is where the Joker was born. We aren’t going to go into too much detail because a lot of it is spoiler-heavy if true, but the fans will know what this means.

In Batman ’89 it was Axis Chemicals but it looks like Suicide Squad is going to do it right…

Suicide Squad stars Will Smith as Deadshot, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag, Jared Leto as The Joker, Jai Courtney as Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller. It arrives in theatres August 5th, 2016

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
