Could Warners be returning as Superman for a future movie?

According to Heroic Hollywood (full video below) planned production on the Supergirl movie – which was rumoured to be set in the 1970s – has ground to a halt, with the character to remain over in the Arrowverse for the foreseeable future.

They go on to say that an insider with knowledge of the situation at DC/Warners are now unsure of what to do with Superman going forward but they know that a Supergirl movie while the fans are crying out for more Superman -especially one set long before Man of Steel – is a silly idea.

They go on to say that the studio may actually be listening to the fans and Henry Cavill may be back in the frame to return to the role.

Cavill has had a bumpy ride as Superman –  with fans equally loving and hating his Superman. On to of that, with the mixed reaction over Batman V Superman, the CGI moustache removal in Justice League and the headless Superman cameo in Shazam!, fans were pretty sure the actor was no longer attached to the role.

The report also adds that a new Superman movie would likely not arrive before 2024 but Cavill himself – currently making waves in The Witcher series – has made it clear several times that he loves playing the Man of Steel and will be there to return if he’s wanted… and that, regarding The Witcher, he can easily balance two projects at once.

Personally, I liked Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman and would love to see him return to the role  – and I’d happily wait for that to happen.

What about you all? Let me know your thoughts, gang…
