We reported in January that Jojo Rabbit and Thor: Ragnarok’s Taika Waititi was in like to make a Star Wars movie (here) and today we have confirmation of that.
The Academy Award winner directed the first season finale of The Mandalorian and now he’s stepping up to give us a full length feature movie set in the galaxy far, far away.
Academy Award nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns (1917, Last Night in Soho) will be writing the movie with Waititi.
There’s no doubt that Waititi has a tremendous flair and style as a film-maker – I adored Jojo Rabbit – and his Mandalorian episode was superb (I’m still breaking that finale down in my head) so hopefully he can deliver for the Star Wars franchise and not go too slapstick on the whole thing as (I personally feel) he did with Ragnarok.
What say you all? Would this excite you? Let me know your thoughts, gang…
