While we were pretty excited about the idea of Mel Gibson helming Suicide Squad 2 (here), we’re pretty damned happy with the new confirmed director…
Gavin O’Connor, the man behind one of our favourite movies of last year, The Accountant, is tipped to write and direct the sequel to the DC franchise starter.
While we learned last week that the sequel wouldn’t be filming for a while yet due to Will Smith being a busy man:
So hearing at the earliest, SUICIDE SQUAD 2 won’t go in to production until fall 2018 because of Smith’s schedule with ALADDIN and GEMINI

It looks like Warner/DC are moving ahead with the movie, but it looks like the the Fall 2018 date is probably most likely on the money with Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Jared Leto all expected to return.
The first movie, written and directed by David Ayer, suffered greatly because of being rushed, so this should give the studio and O’Connor time to make the sequel more impressive than the first movie – which I still admit is a guilty pleasure.
So we have an interesting choice on board… but what say you all?
