OK, remember we reported on the Cabin Fever Reboot almost a year ago? No? Well, it’s ok – here’s the original story.

Anyway, so the remake is going ahead and IFC Midnight have announced that they have picked up North American distribution rights to the film, directed by Travis Z.

We originally reported that the remake would have the same script as the  2002 original from Eli Roth, and it looks like this is still holding true.

As we heard previously, original writer/director Roth is producing this remake which will star Gage Golightly (Teen Wolf), Dustin Ingram (Paranormal Activity 3), Samuel Davis (From Dusk Till Dawn), Matthew Daddario (Delivery Man) and Nadine Crocker (Deadgirl).

Roth previosuly said that he saw it as the restaging of a play and he was excited to see what Travis Z brought to the story.

“It was a great opportunity to recreate an iconic film for a new generation,” says Z, “I am a die hard fan of horror films and the king of horror, Eli Roth, trusted me to re-imagine his film. I was not going to fail.”

Well, we’ll have to see if he fails or succeeds, meanwhile, what do you guys think of a word-for-word remake? Let us know, guys…

Producers on the Cabin Fever remake include Evan Astrowsky, Christopher Lemole and Tim Zajaros with Cassian Elwes, Jerry Fruchtman, Peter Fruchtman and Ike and Jaclyn Suri executive producing alongside Roth.

The movie is due for a 2016 release

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
