The Expendables 3 gets its certificate…

July 3rd, 2014 by Marc Comments

Well, we can’t say we’re surprised, but the certification of The Expendables 3 has been confirmed…

The Motion Picture Association of America has officially given The Expendables 3 a PG-13 rating for violence including intense sustained gun battles and fight scenes, and for language. No word on what it’ll be in the UK yet,  but we’re guessing a 12a.

It’s hardly a surprise since Stallone said last month: “We want to reach as many people as possible. It’s very close to an R, believe me, it’s right there. But I think we owe it to the next generation. We thought we’d join that club for a while.”

Personally, I don’t mind what cert the movie is so long as it’s fun…

In The Expendables 3, Barney (Sylvester Stallone), Christmas (Jason Statham) and the rest of the team come face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables – but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

Returning for the Patrick Hughes directed sequel are Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Arnold Schwarzenegger, with new additions Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Harrison Ford, Kellan Lutz, Glen Powell, Kelsey Grammer, MMA star Ronda Rousey, welterweight boxing champion Victor Ortiz and Mel Gibson.

The Expendables 3 explodes into theaters on August 15th, 2014.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
