Go, Go Power Rangers… back to March 2017. I’m so sorry for that, though I can guarantee it will happen again. It has been known for quite some time, that Lionsgate is attempting to turn the Power Rangers franchise, into a series of films.
However, ever since then, Lionsgate have delayed the film twice. The first was from Summer 2016 to January 2017, and now even further into March. This constant movement of the film has made fans worried that Lionsgate does not have a lot of faith in the property.
Personally, I think moving the film to March, sends a better signal than leaving it in the January slot. January is infamous as the dumping ground for blockbusters that studios have absolutely no faith in. So moving it to March does go some way to assuage these fears.
From the looks of things, Lionsgate have become aware that The Divergent series is coming to an end, and they are hoping for the Power Rangers franchise to take its place. Whether this will work or not remains to be seen, as the two franchises are quite different, but it does speak to a confidence the studio seems to have. Let’s see if the faith is well placed.
