So, they’re rebooting The Ring. Again. Right.

And the very lovely relative newcomer Matilda Lutz (above) has scored the lead in the movie from Paramount.

The project was previously The Ring 3D and is now called… wait for it… wait… Rings.

In fairness, the current rumour is that the new movie will follow the story of the American series but is a whole new beginning, hence the reboot bit. Although, it’s also a sequel of sorts too.

Hideo Nakata’s original 1998 Japanese Horror, Ring, is still a movie that gets under my skin and has one of cinema’s greatest ever finales – which has sadly been copied and homaged to death at this stage. There were three sequels to this version. Then in 2002 Gore Verbinski remade it as The Ring and, in fairness, it was OK. It has one sequel so far.

It looks like someone else is set to watch the cursed videotape and be doomed to die seven days later. Will it be Lutz? We’ll find out when this new movie, written by David Loucka originally and now Akiva Goldsman and directed by Before The Fall’s F. Javier Gutierrez arrives. No word on when that’ll be though…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
