Third Bill & Ted movie has script, cast, director and producers in place and is close to finance

Big day for Bill & Ted fans as it looks like the third movie in the most excellent trilogy may actually happen!

A few months ago we reported that the third planned Bill & Ted movie will be called Bill & Ted Face The Music and will see the intrepid heroes settling into older life in a world where they simply didn’t, well, save everyone.

They’re older, settled, have kids and then something changes….

Well now stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter along with Bill & Ted writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon sat down to discuss the third movie: “Chris and Ed came to us in 2007 with the idea of doing it,” said Reeves explains, however it still hasn’t appeared because of Hollywood and the difficulties of getting movies made.

“We’ve been to the altar a few times,” says Solomon revealing that he and Matheson wrote the script on spec: “‘Spec’ means ‘for free’ for all you folks in Toledo, Ohio, who don’t read all the entertainment blogs,” informs Winter.

However, it seems their efforts may be final paying off: “We wanted to have it be something that we — all four of us, Chris and I, Alex and Keanu — could stand behind, and know we’re doing this for the right reasons,” said Solomon.

As for the script, just as the duo are starting to accept that they aren’t the world saviours they thought they were: “Indomitable spirits confronted with, ‘Is this the end?’ Of course, there is a little caveat in that someone comes from the future and says: ‘Not only do you have to save the world, you have to save everything,’” says Reeves.

“I think it’s kind of like A Christmas Carol with Bill and Ted. Looking at their lives, and really kind of rediscovering what they’re about,” adds Solomon.

That’s all great news and it sounds great but can it happen”

“We are hoping to close a deal with some financiers,” says Solomon. “Hopefully within the next month or so, we’ll have news that will stick.”

Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!

Winter is fas to point out they have a great director on board: “Dean Parisot, who we love, did Galaxy Quest, which is a masterpiece.”

It will be produced by Steven Soderbergh and original movies’ producer Scott Kroopf. And the icing on the cake? As we reported before, “Bill Sadler is back, returning as death, and a few delicious cameos by people to be named another time.”

Honestly, this is just awesome news! We’re on the precipice of finally having a third  Bill & Ted movie… and it feels great!

We just want to be excellent to each other; “We have to make the third one,” says Winter, “Before the apocalypse!”

Now that sounds like a great adventure indeed.
