One of the only saving graces of Sam Raimi’s car wreck Spider-man 3 was Sandman as played by Thomas Hayden Church and now he’s heading back to the big screen as a comic character.
The actor who has been one of our most liked since his performance in Sideways, talked earlier this year about heading back into comic book territory but was standoffish about it:
“I’m not supposed to talk about it, but I actually have returned, but not in the Marvel world, it’s another world, but it is in that genre of superheroes and supervillains. I’m not supposed to talk about it, it’s a movie I shot last year. They’re trying to keep it – and good luck to ‘em – with, y’know, today man, I’m surprised it hasn’t already kinda been revealed.”
At the time no-one had any idea but now it seems he’s playing Lobster Johnson in the upcomng Hellboy reboot starring Stranger Things and Suicide Squad’s David Harbour as the titular character.
Johnson is a 1930 vigilante in New York who brandishes any villains he apprehends, although we’ve no idea how big the role will be.
Church meets Hellboy? Sounds like a winning combination to us.
What say you all?
