Three interesting new names join the Han Solo standalone movie…

July 30th, 2017 by Marc Comments

Well, it wouldn’t be Star Wars if Warwick Davis wasn’t involved, would it?

No. No it wouldn’t.

Yes, the actor who played Wicket in Return of the Jedi and then popped up in Phantom Menace, The Force Awakens and Rogue One has signed on to the Han Solo movie in a so far undisclosed role.

Well, we think this is what director Ron Howard is saying:

Unless the Willow sequel is actually happening and no-one mentioned it, we reckon this is a fairly safe bet.

Adding to that is another very interesting bit of casting: Spencer Wilding has joined the cast.

In case you don’t know who that is, he’s the man who played Darth Vader in Rogue One.

Will Vader be appearing in the Han Solo movie? Well, it is definitely possible – he was out there at that time – but we really don’t think Han Solo and Darth Vader’s stories intertwined before we first met them both in A New Hope. Do you?

The actor’s appearance was first mention ed when he called off his appearance at Fandomfest and the con’s site reported: “as he will be filming the newest film in the Star Wars Universe. Spencer will be coming back next year.”

Still no confirmation though.

Finally, John Powell, the man behind the scores of such movies as the Bourne and Shrek franchises has joined the movie as the third composer to ever have scored a Star Wars movie.

Word is that the movie’s score will feel like Star Wars but will have a very distinct Han Solo feel too.

So there you have it, three very interesting names are heading to the galaxy far, far away.

What do you all think?

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
