Dubbed The Apology Tour – for killing Optimus Prime – you’ll get the chance to re-live that moment that has haunted your dreams for four decades between September 17th and 21st of this year in glorious 4K.
Alyse D’Antuono, Hasbro’s vp, global brand & franchise strategy, action brands (say that five times fast), said of the re-release: “For decades, Transformers fans have carried this film with them, which is a testament to its storytelling and lasting cultural impact.

While all this is true, it’s hard not to think of the fact that the reason Prime and all the other Autobots and Decepticons – seriously, if you’ve never seen it, they really clean house – were killed off was so they could sell a whole new line of good guys and bad guys meaning that (and we all know this is what it was along with many of the 1980s’ best cartoon shows) we’re now considering paying to see a movie we’ve seen before that was nothing but a glorified toy commercial. Wonder if people will write letters again? If it got people writing again, it might be worth it.
Who am I kidding? I’m absolutely going to see this on the biggest screen possible.
