So, remember the story a few days ago that there might be two Green Lanterns in the upcoming DC/Warners movie; John Stewart and Hal Jordan (here)? Well, while we didn’t really buy into the story, it looks like Lantern favourite and Fast & Furious star Tyrese Gibson is adding fuel to the fire…

The image above was posted by Gibson on his Instagram page (below) and is seemingly going along with the earlier story that both Lanterns will appear together in the movie. Speaking to EW, Gibson said:  “There are certain things I can’t speak on, but I will say, however this works out, it’s definitely the fans’ fault. I was at home minding my own business and fans start creating these fan-made videos of me as Green Lantern and I looked into it. I’ve been a fan of the Green Lantern. I took the oath, and I had a meeting at Warner Bros. and certain things were said and talked about. We’ll just see what happens.”

But is Gibson ready to put on the planet-defending green? “Listen, these muscles are here and they’re ready to be used… I’m coming into this thing with some fans and some box office receipts behind my name and I say that proudly and humbly. I just think I deserve a shot at suiting up and becoming the Green Lantern.”

He finished off by saying: “You never know, I might be there on the other side of an announcement. You never know.”

The image above may reflect on the earlier notion that Chris Pine, now best know as Captain Kirk in the Abrams Star Trek movies, was in talks for Wonder Woman’s love interest Steve Trevor but was in fact in talks for the role of Hal Jordan.

So, what do you think? Does the Justice League need two Green Lanterns? Is it ready for them? Gibson is no stranger to hinting at the Lantern role. Let us know your thoughts…

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
