Well it seems that the strength of Captain America wasn’t enough to hold off Spidey as the Amazing Spider-man 2 web-slung its way right to the top of the chart, more good news for the film is that it has become the highest taking opening weekend film of the year so far, beating out The Lego Movie.

Other new films in the top ten include 2 States at number ten, thriller Locke at number nine and British comedy The Love Punch at number five.
