Venom director and star talk Carnage and She-Venom…

Venom director Ruben Fleischer and star Michelle Williams sat down to chat to Total Film ahead of the movie’s release in October and they danced around a couple of rumours that have been around for a while.

Firstly, we already knew that Sony plan to build a big cinematic universe with their Spider-man without Spider-man movies (here) and we’ve also known that it was likely Carnage would appear, with rumours being that none other than Woody harrelson would portray him (here) and now Fleischer finally addresses both rumours.

“There are other villains in the movie too – we’re definitely planning a big world with these characters,” he says.

But will Carnage be in there?

“I think it’ll be really fun for fans to go see the movie and see for themselves,” he teased.

We reckon there’s a pretty good chance we’ll see Carnage in the movie in some form or other.

Another rumour was that the movie will hint at, if not actually feature, She-Venom and we know that actress Michelle Williams will play Anne Weying who becomes She-Venom in the comics (don’t forget the second link above where it was implied early in production that She-Venom would appear).

When asked if she would like to play the female version of Venom, she replied: “She-Venom would be a dream come true!”

Of course there are still the rumours of Spider-man, Tom holland becoming part of the Venom story and them all eventually becoming part of the MCU, so it seems that, despite many not being excited for it, the Sony Marvel universe is filled with potential.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, Venom stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Scott Haze and Woody Harrelson.

Venom will be released in theaters on October 5, 2018

Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
