Ok, so almost two years ago Vin Diesel said that Universal wanted another Riddick movie and then… nothing.

Well, now it seems Riddick is coming back. In style.

Diesel has take to Instagram to tell the fans that not only is there a fourth Riddick movie (fifth if you include the animated Dark Fury) called Furia in the works and that’s not all as a TV series dubbed Merc City is happening too.

“Last night our company had a party  to launch our TV division,” Diesel wrote. “MERC CITY is a show that will follow the Mercs and Bounty Hunters of the Riddick Universe. Next Month, DT (David Twohy) begins writing the next Chapter in the Chronicles of Riddick… FURIA.”

Twohy wrote and directed 2000’s Pitch Black, 2004’s The Chronicles of Riddick, and 2013’s Riddick. as well as the two animated Riddick stories, Dark Fury and Blindsided.

We at FTN are really happy about this because, frankly, we have a very big soft spot for the Riddick movies and we look forward to the story continuing.

Are we on our own? Let us know.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
