So, we finally have our first look at Antoine Fuqua’s Magnificent Seven remake, starring Denzel Washington and Chris Pratt. We were extremely sceptical about this film for a while but now the first batch of photos and trailer have arrived, we’re leaning more towards thinking it looks completely badass.

In addition to minted A-listers Pratt and Washington, the impressive ensemble is rounded off with Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Ononfrio, Byung-hun Lee, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo and Martin Sensmeier.

The film is a Training Day reunion, re-teaming director Fuqua with Hawke and Washington. Interestingly, across his illustrious and varied career, Washington has never appeared in a western.

According to USA Today (via Squareeyed), Hawke plays a character called Goodnight Robicheaux, while Pratt will star as Chris Farraday, a character labeled as “charming.”

Although it bears its name, the film is not a direct remake of 1960’s Magnificent Seven starring Steve McQueen, but will borrow heavily from its themes and narrative. Check out the images below.

The remake rides into cinemas on September 23
