What would happen if Cowboy Bebop smashed into the world of Blade Runner?
Well now we know as Cowboy Bebop director Shinichiro Watanabe brings us the third Blade Runner 2049 prequel short (see the other two here and here) that follows two Replicants on a mission to black out LA twelve years after the first movie.
Once again the events in this short will explain some of the world we see in Blade Runner 2049 which is less than two weeks from release.
Blade Runner Black Out 2022
In 2022, an EMP detonation has caused a global blackout that has massive, destructive implications all over the world. Directed by Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo’s Shinichiro Watanabe, Blade Runner Black Out 2022 is a new and highly-anticipated animated short which serves as a prologue for the upcoming feature film Blade Runner 2049.
