WATCH: Dan Stevens asked Patrick Stewart to play Professor X in Legion series

We’re already hearing rumours that Patrick Stewart may play Charles Xavier AKA Professor X one more time in the Deadpool sequel, but now we have something else to ponder.

We know that the Legion TV series features Xavier’s comic book son, David Haller (played by Dan Stevens), and that the Legion series is part of the X-Men Cinematic Universe (here) so we can’t be the only ones to have pondered if maybe we will see Haller and Xavier meet.

So, on The Late Late Show this week an interesting thing happened (watch it below).

On the sofa were Patrick Stewart and Dan Stevens and, first off, the topic of Xavier being in the Deadpool sequel came up and Stewart was quick to say it wasn’t for him to say if he was involved (but we got the feeling he was being a little too evasive… almost deliberately so?) and the second thing of note was Stevens asking Stewart if he would be in Legion due to his being the character’s father.

And Stewart (and the audience) reacted with much enthusiasm!

We reckon not only should it happen but it certainly COULD happen. FOX are owning it at the minute with Legion, Logan, Deadpool 2, X-Force, X-Men: Gifted, Gambit and The New Mutants all happening, and the deliberate effort to keep everything connected (despite the very confused timeline of the movies) is pretty impressive and we reckon Xavier and Haller meeting would be a great way to make it all that bit more related.

What do you all think? Would you like to see Stewart tying X-Men, Legion and Deadpool together? Of course you would!

Let us know your thoughts in all the usual ways!
