Suicide writer/director David Ayer has fans all in a tizzy again with a new post on his Instagram story.
Ayer posted a new clip of Jared Leto’s burned Joker from his movie in a scene that never made it to the big screen as his movie, much like Batman V Superman and Justice League, was heavily re-edited and changed by the studio prior to release and, with Jack Snyder’s Justice League coming to HBO Max in March, there’s a big fan movement to have Ayer’s original vision for Suicide Squad to get a release too… and there’s aa lot of mumblings that this is in consideration and will depend on how well Justice League does on release.
In the scene, below, Joker faces the camera and says: “You should be ashamed of yourself”. In both cuts of the movie Joker survived a helicopter crash although the theatrical cut didn’t show him immediately afterward, so it seems Ayer’s cut did, meaning in this scene he’s likely speaking to the Suicide Squad AKA Task Force X.
This could be Ayer stoking the flames for his cut or it could be him celebrating the fact that Leto’s Joker will appear in the new Justice League – it may even be a message to Warner Bros from him.
But whatever it is, I’m always up for more from this Joker and, of course, would love to see his version of Suicide Squad. Either way, something seems to be in the works.
What say you all?
