WATCH: David F Sandberg gives our first look at the new Shazam! suit from Fury of the Gods

We’ve had some cool new Shazam! updates this week from the sequel, Fury of the Gods, as we get our first look(s) at the hero’s new suit.

First, we had some leaked images from the set of the movie (here) which gave us a very clear look at the new suit as will be worn by star Zachary Levi in the movie, below left.

Then, the movie’s writer/director (and writer/director of the first movie, David F Sandberg shared the video below of the suit… although it is hard to make out the clear details as the footage is almost all filmed in silhouette:

It’s a fun bit of footage and very much in tone with what we would expect, given the first movie’s innocence and humour; however, we can’t help feeling this is a playful jab at the ‘Zack Snyder’s movies are too dark’ brigade.

That said, we can’t help feeling that the new suit is to bring it in line with the currently-filming Black Adam movie starring Dwayne Johnson as the teases of the new suit have similarities to the suit we see here (here).

For the record, we loved the first suit too but this makes it look a big more epic and, given that Zachary Levi has said in the past was the plan was that Shazam! 3 and Black Adam 2 were basically going to be the crossover movie… this will make it all fit together a bit more.

And, for the record, I can totally see this suit fitting into the Snyderverse. Just saying.

What do you think of the new Shazam! suit? Are you looking forward to the movie? Personally, I can’t wait.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods opens in theaters on June 2nd, 2023

UPDATED: Another new look at the suit has appeared online:
