We love a good sequel, especially when it intelligently turns what you thought you knew from the first movie on its head, giving it reason and purpose. You know, the exact opposite of The Rise of Skywalker (here we go).
In the first movie we met Stephen Lang’s Norman Nordstrom aka The Blind Man, who quickly waged war on a bunch of teens breaking into his house. He was a force of nature that took too much pleasure in carving up his victims, but this time out, we see that Nordstrom is settled, happy and putting all his energy into looking after a young girl, Pheonix. Until someone comes to the house looking for her. Then the Nordstrom we know comes back to settle things.
By the way, I thought I should mention, Lang is 68! Man, he’s in some nick.
“Don’t Breathe 2” is set in the years following the initial deadly home invasion as depicted in the first film. Norman Nordstrom (Lang) lives in quiet solace until his past sins catch up to him. While Norman was the terrorizer in the first film, he’s now the one being targeted and fighting back against evil.
Original director Fede Álvarez is stepping back and letting newcomer Rodo Sayagues take the reins.
Don’t Breathe 2 stars Stephen Lang (Avatar, Tombstone), Madelyn Grace (Grey’s Anatomy), and Brendan Sexton III (El Camino, Black Hawk Down).
It will be released exclusively in theaters nationwide on August 13, 2021.
