WATCH: Jimmy Kimmel and Ben Affleck’s Vax Live Batman sketch may be something big

At the VAX LIVE: The Concert to Reunite the World event in LA Today, we had a bit of a deja vu moment regarding Jimmy Kimmel and Ben Affleck.

The event, to celebrate the return to normal of life after than damned virus, as cinemas, sporting events and more begin to reopen, featured performers from all areas of entertainment, but it was this DC-themed one that got out attention.

Now, Kimmel and Affleck are no strangers to having fun around Batman, dating back to this ‘deleted scene’ from Batman V Superman:

However, it was also on the Kimmel Show that Affleck confirmed he was stepping down as Batman after the failure of Justice League, the unfair critical mauling he got for a role he totally owned and the fact that, as hard as he tried, he just couldn’t get his standalone Batman movie off the ground:

However, at the Vax Live event, Kimmel and Affleck appeared, below, with Affleck wearing a nice suit and Kimmel dressed as Robin.

Now, this in itself isn’t that big a big of news, but when Affleck asked him why he was wearing it, Kimmel replied: “Because you’re Batman, duh!”

Now, we know that Affleck, currently back as Batman in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, is also set to return to the role in an appearance in The Flash movie, so he’s clearly not totally out of the role.

However, given that Kimmel and Affleck have had something of a journey through Affleck’s time as Batman, and Affleck confirmed his standing down from the role on Kimmel’s show – above – is it possible that, more than just being a joke, this is, in fact, a declaration that Affleck is far from done in the role?

We have heard several times rumours that HBO Max wants Affleck to come back as Batman for a TV Series on the streaming giant and have yet to hear anything official, but I must say, this little skit really has my Spider-sense tingling.
