We’re not worthy! We’re not worthy!
I never thought I’d see the day but Wayne’s World is coming back! Albeit for one sweet, sweet appearance!
Stars Mike Myers and Dana Carvey, Wayne and Garth respectively, have had a rocky relationship for some time off-screen and it seemed unlikely the duo would ever come back as the two lovable dudes who hit the big time in 1992 – but never say never, it seems.
Based on a SNL sketch, the first Wayne’s World movie was a massive hit [and led to a sequel which was even bigger] and made Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody one of the most iconic pieces of cinema music of all time – it also gave us a whole new corner of our vocabulary – “No way?” “Way!” – so it’s impact on pop-culture should by no means be underestimated.
Of course, Myers went on to arguably bigger fame with his Austin Powers franchise (which is a big part of why the duo fell out) and it seemed like Wayne Campbell and Garth Algar were never to appear together again.
But… Superbowl Sunday next weekend (February 7th) will see the iconic pair return for the first time since Wayne’s World 2 in 1993 and, honestly, this is just another slice of my childhood nostalgia that I just am here for!
You can watch the trailer for the event below and say it with me: “Wayne’s World, Wayne’s World! Party time! Excellent! Woooo-oooooo-ooooo!”
