WATCH: Netflix drop trailer for apocalyptic thriller Leave The World Behind

October 3rd, 2023 by Marc Comments

Netflix does love a good end-of-the-world thriller at Christmas, doesn’t it?

The trailer for the mysterious and interesting-looking Leave the World Behind has arrived and not only is the cast very impressive, the movie looks great.

When a family is minding their own business at home one evening, a mysterious man arrives at the door, seemingly to tell them that the world is set to come to an end as we know it and they seem to be a part of the proceedings.

A family’s (Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke) vacation is upended when two strangers (Mahershala Ali and Myha’la) arrive at night, seeking refuge from a cyberattack that grows more terrifying by the minute, forcing everyone to come to terms with their places in a collapsing world.

Written, directed and produced by Sam Esmail (Mr. Robot), Leave The World Behind is based on the 2020 novel of the same name by Rumaan Alam. The film stars Julia Roberts (who also co-produced the film), Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Myha’la Herrold, Farrah Mackenzie, Charlie Evans, and Kevin Bacon.

Leave The World Behind hits select cinemas in November before heading to Netflix on 8th December.

Thoughts? I know you have them! Voice-off in the usual ways on FTN’s FacebookTwitter and Instagram

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
