Exciting times ahead for Tomb Raider fans as we get our first real look at the upcoming movie reboot starring Alicia Vikander.
We got a poster for the movie today as well as a teaser (below) for the new trailer (which will drop tomorrow so stay right here!) giving us our first look at Vikander in action and she certainly looks the part shooting arrows and dodging dangerous looking obstacles.
However, we have to ask, what the heck is going on with her neck in that poster?!
She looks like she has a velociraptor’s neck! Little too much photoshop, perhaps?
Anyway, the story takes place seven years after Lara’s father disappears, with 21-year-old refusing to inherit his business empire and choosing instead to attend college while tiding herself over working as a bike courier. Eventually, she’s inspired to investigate what happened to him, and kicks off her search at his last-known location, a tomb on an island off the coast of Japan.
“When I was asked to take on this role I got really excited – Lara Croft is a truly iconic character,” Vikander said earlier this year, “I think people can identify with her for lots of different reasons, but for me I very much see her as a model for many young women. She’s trying to carve out her place in the world and connect her future with her past.”
Roar Uthang directs with a supporting cast of Dominic West, Walton Goggins and Daniel Wu.
Tomb Raider will be released on March 16 next year.
Oh, and Jumnaji: Welcome To The Jungle gets a new trailer tomorrow too.
Here’s the teaser if you’re curious:
Just for the heck of it, we fixed her neck in the poster:
