One of the funnest movie debates of all-time revolves around the 1996 Michael Bay movie, The Rock, and the Sean Connery James Bond movies.
See, in The Rock Connery plays an imprisoned ex-British Intelligence agent call John Mason who is the only man to have ever escaped Alcatraz and, now that the island prison has been captured and is being used as the base for a chemical attack, his knowledge and skills are needed.
Now, while the movie never says he is James Bond, there was lot’s of evidence that he may well have been.
But there was also loads of evidence that he wasn’t… Mason was a Captain, not a commander in the navy. Mason has a daughter… Bond doesn’t.
But now a new video from Pentex Productions leaves no doubt that Mason IS James Bond by breaking down the movie continuity, the real-world events of the time(s) and the details given in The Rock and, well, it’s game, set and match of, like me, you believe The Rock is the final movie in the Connery Bond story.
