WATCH: Ryan Reynolds confirms Deadpool 3 happening at Marvel/Disney

January 3rd, 2020 by Marc Comments

Back in October Deadpool, sorry, Ryan Reynolds, teased a meeting with the folks at Disney/Marvel (here) and needless to say, we all suspected it involved the Mera with the mouth in some form or other.

And now to our utter delight, Reynolds, in an interview on Live With Kelly and Ryan, has confirmed that, yes Deadpool 3 is indeed happening at the house of mouse and, more importantly, the MCU.

“Yeah we’re working on it right now with the whole team,” Reynolds said.

“We’re over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It’s kinda crazy. So yeah, we’re working on it.”

What this means for the franchise moving forward is unknown, the character in his first two outings, has revelled in his R-rated adventures, so wether or not these will continue at the MCU is hard to know. My guess is they will be tied down ala the Once Upon a Deadpool release which saw Deadpool 2 re-edited to be more family-friendly (unless you live in the Uk – long story) and, in my honest opinion, lost none of what made the adult version so great.

Personally, I hope we see the characters from the precious movies step into the MCU rather than being recast and changed fundamentally, because while Deadpool is quite a meta-character who could likely make a joke about different unverses etc, the other character may be stuck in the world created by Fox in the first two movies.

Earlier tonight I speculated at how Doctor Strange sequel And The Multiverse of Madness may lead to Spider-man and Venom meeting this October (here),  and I can honestly see it leading to Deadpool stepping into the MCU.

What say you all? Are you excited to see Wade Wilson’s bloodthirsty alter-ego cross over? Let me know your thoughts..

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
