Well, this was not expected at all.

The treaser has dropped for horror director Rob Zombie’s adaptation of the iconic 1960s series The Munsters and while we expected it to be a dark take on the relatively light-hearted original, this looks like it actually picks up exactly where the series ended.

The trailer opens with Zombie’s version of the original show’s opening credits and it’s perfect, really.

Jeff Daniel Phillips is playing Herman Munster and Sheri Moon Zombie is playing Lily Munster in Zombie’s movie, with Daniel Roebuck co-starring as Grandpa Munster.

Richard Brake (31, 3 from Hell) is playing Dr. Henry Augustus Wolfgang. Catherine Schell (“Space: 1999,” The Return of the Pink Panther) is playing “Zoya Krupp the gypsy queen.”

Dee Wallace, Cassandra “Elvira” Peterson and Jorge Garcia will also star.

Rob Zombie writes and takes the directors chair for the return of The Munsters from Universal 1440 Entertainment! Check out this teaser for the perfect combination of nostalgia and electric new talent. With Rob Zombie running the show you KNOW it’s going to be epic.
