Tom Cruise is back as Lee Child’s hero Jack Reacher in Jack Reacher: Never Go Back and we have the first images and trailer.
Loosely based on Child’s 2013 Reacher novel of the same name, here’s the official synopsis:
Jack Reacher: Never Go Back follows the title character as he returns to Virginia to meet the head of his former unit. But she’s missing, he’s being charged with a crime committed nearly 20 years ago, and he may even have a daughter. Making things right will lead him on a cross-country chase to uncover the truth – and maybe even a family.
Smulders plays Virginia MP Susan Turner (the new head of Reacher’s former unit) in Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, while Danika Yarosh (Heroes Reborn) costars as the young woman who (as the movie’s synopsis references) may or may not be Reacher’s daughter. Although McQuarrie is only a producer on the Jack Reacher sequel, Never Go Backwas directed by another Oscar-winner who has collaborated with Cruise before; namely, The Last Samurai‘s helmer Edward Zwick, who co-wrote the film’s script with his writing partner, Marshall Herskovitz. Rounding out the film’s cast are such names as Patrick Heusinger (Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce), Aldis Hodge (Underground), and Holt McCallany (Run All Night), among others.
