Ok, so I had many issues with Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, but ultimately I did really enjoy it… but I love the look of this prequel, Army of Thieves.

The movie stars Matthias Schweighöfer who is returning from Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead as German safecracker Ludwig Dieter along with new additions to the series including Game of Thrones’ Nathalie Emmanue along with Ruby O Fee, Guz Khan and Jonathan Cohen.

The movie will also be directed by Schweighöfer while Zack and Deborah Snyder will be producing.

The movie, set prior to the events of “Army of the Dead,” takes place during the early stages of a zombie outbreak and centers on Dieter, in his early days of safecracking, as he is hired by a mysterious woman to pull off a heist with the help of a misfit crew of aspiring thieves.

On August 12th Schweighöfer took to social media to reveal that the movie will not be scored by Junkie XL but rather will have the legendary Hans Zimmer involved. writing: “I am beyond excited to announce that I have the honour to work with the legendary and incredible Hans Zimmer, along with co-composer Steve Mazarro! They will be composing the score for ARMY OF THIEVES, the Zack Snyder-produced ARMY OF THE DEAD prequel, starred and directed by me.”

In this prequel to Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, small-town bank teller Dieter gets drawn into the adventure of a lifetime when a mysterious woman recruits him to join a crew of Interpol’s most wanted criminals, attempting to heist a sequence of legendary, impossible-to-crack safes across Europe.

Watch Army of Thieves on Netflix globally October 29.
