While we’re all still trying to deal with an Edgar Wright-less Ant-man, we have been wondering where he’ll go next because, Ant-man or no, he’s a director we love and can’t wait to see what’s next for him.
And it looks like wheels are already in motion as he eyes up the big-screen reboot of the classic Darren McGavin TV show Kolchak: The Nightstalker. The original series was about an investigative journalist who looked into crimes of a supernatural nature and is prime for the update treatment.
The movie is something that Wright has been developing for a while at Disney with the lead role being laid out for Johnny Depp.
According to Deadline: “The script by D.V. DeVincentis is in strong shape. Of course, much of this depends on the availability of Depp, who’s playing Whitey Bulger in Black Mass right now and is supposed to make another Pirates Of The Caribbean movie either later this year or early next. Sometimes these developments work out for everyone.”
Seems like this could be one to watch as Wright’s sensibilities will play wonderfully on the subject matter…
