It looks like the already rammed full of legends Spider-man 3 may have two more familiar faces coming back to the screen.
A new report has it that, joining Jamie Foxx as Electro, Alfred Molina as Doc Ock, Tom Holland as Spider-man and, em, probably Andrew Garfield and Toby Maguire as Spider-men, is Willem Dafoe and Thomas Hayden Church as Green Goblin and Sandman, both from the Sam Raimi’s Spider-man movies which starred Toby Maguire.
Now, neither are confirmed and, as more of these rumours pop up, the more I begin to think these characters will not have a significant role in the movie but will rather just be nods to the movies of the past.
DaFoe, of course, played Goblin AKA Norman Osborn in Raimi’s 2002 Spider-man and Hayden Church appeared in 2008’s Spider-man 3 as Sandman AKA Flint Marko, the man who actually killed Peter’s (Maguire) Uncle Ben.
It’s still unclear what Jon Watt’s Spider-man will be but I can’t help feeling we’re about to see the MCU Spider-man become an amalgamation of all three versions… remember, at this point after several appearances in the MCU, we still haven’t any idea what happened or how he became Spidey… but I have a feeling that, come December 17th 2021, we might have a good idea.
