Willem Dafoe spotted on set of Spider-man 3 as Tom Holland discusses Spider-verse rumours

February 7th, 2021 by Marc Comments

Another face has reportedly be seen on the set of the currently-filming Spider-man 3 and it has us all very, very excited.

We reported a while ago that Willem Dafoe was rumoured to be returning for the third movie, possibly reprising his role as Norman Osborne AKA Green Goblin – a role he played first on Sam Raimi’s Spider-man movie opposite Toby Maguire way back in 2002 – and now, word is he’s been spotted on the set of the movie!

Dafoe joins confirmed returning Jamie Foxx as Electro and Alfred Molina as, presumably, Doc Ock.

Given the events of this week’s fifth episode of WandaVision on Disney+, it seems all the rumours we’re hearing of a live-action Spider-verse may well be true.

However, given that the movies could see Maguire and Garfield return as older versions of themselves from the past Spider-man movies, it makes me wonder if Dafoe, left, and Molina will be the same.

Both characters died on Raimi’s Spider-man and Spider-man 2 which means that, in the Maguire universe, they are NOT older versions of their characters which has me wondering if the actors will join the movie as the MCU’s own version of Norman Osborne and Dr Otto Octavious?

It could make sense that the characters will standalone but could still look like their other-universe counterparts, right? It would also mean that the MCU’s take on Spider-mans’s enemy team-up The Sinister Six is basically going to a greatest hits… and that sounds wonderful to me.

Speaking of returning faces, the speculation that Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield are both set to return for the third MCU Spider-man outing, current Spider-man/Peter Parker, Tom Holland, has been asked about their inclusion.

Are they in it?

“Beats me, I don’t know,” says Holland.

“If they are, they haven’t told me yet.” Holland joked, before adding “That would be something that Marvel would do. I watch the film and be like ‘So that’s who that tennis ball was!'”

Interstingly, when asked if he was in the movie alongside Maguire, Garfield and also rumored to be back MJ Kirsten Dunst, Holland reply: “I’ve never met Kirsten Dunst.

“I met Andrew once, I met him at the BAFTAs. He was lovely. He was a really nice bloke and we had a nice chat. It was quite soon after Spider-Man: Homecoming had come out. He was really positive and nice. I’ve bumped into Tobey a few times at different parties in LA. He was really nice. They seem to be lovely, really nice people. I hope they enjoy our movies. I hope they enjoy our Spider-Man’s.”

Along with all this, we’re also hearing Daredevil star Charlie Cox was spotted on set and that it will connect to Venom and Morbius too, so this is going to be one big, game-changing adventure… if it’s true.

Spider-man 3 is set to arrive in cinemas on December 17th, 2021

In the meantime, here’s Tom Holland introducing fans to the Avengers Campus at the Disneyland Resort:

When Avengers Campus opens at the Disneyland Resort at a future top secret date, you will see a very familiar face inside the Worldwide Engineering Brigade – or WEB as the kids call it. Tom Holland reprises his role as Peter Parker for WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure.

Donning 3D glasses, your mission will be to test-drive the aspiring inventor’s latest invention, the WEB Slinger vehicle, and discover your web-slinging super powers! Through specially designed, innovative technology that recognizes body movements and gestures, you will reach out your hands and sling webs from your wrists, just like Spider-Man.

As the WEB Slinger vehicles progress, you will virtually pass through several other Campus addresses, including Pym Test Kitchen, Avengers Headquarters and the Collector’s Fortress, also home to Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! As the mission continues, Spider-Bots will become harder and harder to beat as they continue to multiply.
