Only last week we reported that JK Simmons said he’d never close the door on playing Spider-man’s disgruntled Newspaper editor J Jonah Jameson.

Well, we have to say JK, however far the door was already closed, it’s now completely shut because we can’t imagine you going back to The Daily Bugle now that you’re the DC Movie Universe’s Commissioner James Gordon in Zack Snyder’s Justice League movies.

While rumours have been SPOILERS that Gordon is dead in Batman V Superman SPOILERS END, it looks like there may be more to the story if Simmons is set for the sequel movie. In fairness, I had convinced myself that Brian Cranston was going to be the head of the GCPD but we at FTN HQ love this casting.

Gordon was most recently played superbly by Gary Oldman in the Dark Knight trilogy and we loved his take on him but we knew he wouldn’t be returning for this universe.

What do you think of this casting? Let us know…

Justice League Part One is scheduled to open on November 17, 2017.

Marc is a self-confessed nerd. Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
