Wonder Woman to Have New 52 Origin in Batman v Superman?

October 14th, 2014 by Todd Black Comments

If one was to talk about the origin story of Wonder Woman, you would have two choices. The first is the one used many a time and story. That Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, sculpted Diana of Themyscira out of clay and breathed life into her. She later entered a contest under a disguise to gain the Wonder Woman armor and travel to the world of man.

The second origin is the one crafted in The New 52 comic line, and is that one that is accepted today. That Hippolyta and Zeus are the parents of Diana, making her not just an Amazon, but a demigod. It is this origin, according to This Is Infamous, that will apparently be used in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The site cites Charles Roven, a producer for the movie, as saying that the New 52 origin will be the story behind Diana.

Is this the right decision? It’s a coin toss, both origins have their merits. And right now it’s not even clear how much of a role Diana will have in the film. Nether the less, it’s going to be fun to watch!
