Word is DC/Warners are moving forward with the Birds of Prey movie

The hunt is on for a director for the up coming Birds of Prey movie thanks to a script that is garnering industry hype.

With Wonder Woman being the biggest commercial and critical success so far in the DCU canon it only seems logical that Warner Bros are lining up multiple movies with female leads and the Birds of Prey rumour has been around for sometime now.

While there is currently little known about the movie, the scuttlebutt around the industry is that Margot Robbie will be playing Harley Quinn for a possible forth time in the movie that was penned by Christina Hudson (is this what Robbie was talking about here?); in fact the studio were so impressed with Hudson’s script that she has been hired to rewrite Batgirl, after the inevitable departure of Joss Whedon.

Due to how well Hudson is supposed to have written for Barbara Gordon in her Birds of Prey script, word is that Warners Bros are looking for a big-name director for the project but even though they have cast the net we are not to take it for granted that the birds of Prey movie is going to be made, but with the state of DC’s movie slate in constant flux we could see the Birds take to the Gotham skies sooner rather than later.

If Birds of Prey does find its way to the theatres this will be the second time DC has beaten Marvel to the punch by releasing an all-female superhero team before the House of Ideas.
