Zack Snyder and David Ayer reveal Justice League and Suicide Squad were more connected with Darkseid and Steppenwolf being major players

It looks like, after Batman V Superman, Warner Bros made major changes to the forward rolling DC movies (yeah, like we didn’t know) with Suicide Squad and Justice League being directly liked thematically and narratively in the original plan.

And as much as we like Suicide Squad and parts of Justice League, we really hate studio interference sometimes!

So, remember when Diana went to the temple in Justice League? Here’s how the rest of that scene played out…

That’s Darkseid, folks.

He was coming to earth in Zack Snyder’s movie! And the director shared that above image, showing that the plan all along was more complex than the one we got, with Wonder Woman AKA Diana Prince learning that he was on his way near the beginning of the movie.

On top of that, connecting the movies even more, David Ayer has confirmed that in the original script for Suicide Squad, the big bad at the end wasn’t Incubus and enchantress, but Steppenwolf and Enchantress!

Here’s his tweet:

And on top of that, here’s images from the original concept art:

So that big beam of light in Suicide Squad? That was originally a Boom Tube that took Steppenwolf to earth and the alien creatures that Incubus created were meant to be parademons!

This means that Suicide Squad would have seen the escalation of the events set in motion by Lex Luthor in Batman V Superman, which would have been stopped by the Justice League in, em, Justice League.

I even means the line in the post credits when Bruce tell Waller to stop using the Suicide Squad because he and ‘his friends’ would take care of it makes sense… it means after the events of Suicide Squad, Bruce put the team together to stop the invading army that Harley and co already encountered!

This makes much more sense and it means that all the movies would have told one continuous story!

Man of Steel: Superman introduced and establishes aliens and a massive universe.

Batman V Superman: Batman moves into the frame, becomes aware of Wonder Woman, flash, Aquaman and Cyborg. Defeats Lex Luthor who calls down Darkseid’s forces.

Suicide Squad: Steppenwolf arrives and is temporarily stopped my the squad. Leaves to return in…

Justice League: The team stand against Steppenwolf who is beaten, leading to the arrival of… Darkseid.

Guess that’s why it was originally called Zack Snyder’s plan.

Gaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!

Ever since seeing Star Wars for the first time around 1979 he’s been an unapologetic fan of the Wars and still believes, with Clone Wars and now Underworld, we are yet to see the best Star Wars. He’s a dad of two who now doesn’t have the time (or money) to collect the amount of toys, comics, movies and books he once did, much to the relief of his long-suffering wife. In the real world he’s a graphic designer. He started Following the Nerd because he was tired of searching a million sites every day for all the best news that he loves and decided to create one place where you can go to get the whole lot. Secretly he longs to be sitting in the cockpit of his YT-1300 Corellian Transport ship with his co-pilot Chewie, roaming the universe, waiting for his next big adventure, but feels just at home watching cartoons with his kids….
